GARRETSON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Starting on June 14, the community of Garretson will come together for their annual Jesse James Days.

Event Organizers Garrick Moritz, Carrie Moritz, and Laurie Bennett joined Dakota News Now to tell us all about the event.

“Friday night is the cornhole tournament. The Minnehaha Model Train Association is gonna do stuff at the school with the kids. That’s always very popular. There’s a car show that’s gonna be happening at the same time. You can just walk around all of downtown and just have fun. Next morning, of course, is the parade, there’ll be events going on all day. Our friends at the Silver Creek Mavericks are going to be doing their Wild West Show. We’ve got inflatables for the kids, we’ve got all sorts of stuff going on all of Saturday. Sunday is a fishing derby and all sorts of downtown events,” said Garrick.

“It’s actually a lot of fun to see folks step up and help organize the different events that come up. It’s a lot of fun to see the businesses come up with different ideas of how we really want to help bring folks into town and help them enjoy being there,” said Carrie.

“It’s exciting, I mean, with everyone pulling together our event. It’s mostly about kids in the daytime, nighttime we have our street dance,” said Bennett.
