American Legion – Henry G Fix Post #23
Description
Garretson American Legion - Henry G. Fix Post 23
For God and Country, we associate ourselves together for the following purposes, to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, to maintain law and order, to foster and perpetuate a 100 percent Americanism, to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in the great wars, to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation, to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses, to make right the master of might, to promote peace and good will on earth, to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy, to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
The Garretson American Legion meets the first Thursday of every month at the Legion Dugout, and is welcoming to all Veterans, military, their families, and the community. We sponsor Legion baseball for teens, scholarship opportunities, Boys State, Trooper Academy, and much more.
We offer a community breakfast the first Sunday of every other month for a freewill donation.
The Garretson Legion Auxiliary is another active organization associated with Post #23 dedicated to the support of Veterans, military, and their families. As part of their service, the Auxiliary provides dictionaries for Garretson 3rd Graders, Essay and Poem contest sponsorship, Girls State, and much more.
Room rental is available! The Dugout has two sides with kitchen which can be rented together or separately. To rent, call Gary Lyngen at 605-594-3445.
