Garretson Commercial Club Meeting Minutes
December 11th, 2024, Regular Meeting at Palisades Oil
Those in attendance: Carrie Moritz, Bruce Brown, Laurie Bennett, Paetyn Dreckman, Luke Dreckman, Susan Haygood, Dan Haygood, Guy Johnson, Macie Coburn, Kris Johnson, Megan Rollag, and Sarah Beahler.
12:00 pm Luke Dreckman called the meeting to order.
Secretary’s Report – Paetyn provided minutes from the regular November meeting. Laurie motioned to approve minutes with a second from Megan. Motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report – Kris provided treasurer’s report on profit & loss and balance sheet for the period and year to date. Luke went over some budget items for 2024. Carrie motioned to approve the treasury report as presented. Paetyn seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Luke briefly went over the proposed budget for 2025.
Old Business:
Celebrations – Luke asked about any retirements or celebrations to note. The library is still planning for its opening house January 11th, 2025.
Hometown Christmas – Board discussed backdrop for Santa and mailbox for Santa letters getting to the Treasure Chest. The board discussed schedule and verified all activities are ready to go. Luke went over raffle results so far. Carrie went over current advertisements for Hometown Christmas.
2025 Budget Proposal – Luke verified updated items with Kris Johnson. Board members met the week prior to plan the 2025 budget.
Community Event – Puzzle night set for February 15th at the American Legion at 5pm. Board discussed details for teams of 4 and capping at 80-90 people. Discussed $25-$30 per person and the board providing the puzzle, pizza, and drinks. Pizza will be provided by Palisades Oil. $300 budgeted for prizes, which will likely be baskets from commercial club members.
New Business:
Light Pole Banners – Luke went over details on possible business sponsors for new banners for light poles in Garretson. Estimate from Performance Press was $150-$200 for both sides printed. Plan to replace every 3-5 years going forward. Discussion was held and Guy motioned to charge business sponsors $300 per banner. Kris seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Carrie will talk about design plans with Performance Press. Once design plans are complete, Luke or Carrie will send out plans to members in January or February and treat it as first come first serve.
Annual Meeting – RSVP due back January 8th. Meeting will be held at the Garretson Gun Club on January 20th, 2025, with meal to start at 6:30pm . Discussion was had on the meal. Plan is to have Ron Luke of GFC cater. Luke went over sample ballot and recommendations for board nominations. Discussion was had on having volunteer sign up sheets for Commercial Club events at the annual meeting. Discussion was had on door prizes being Commercial Club dollars.
Other Business:
Carrie briefly discussed Megan Jensen’s photo as 2025 phone book cover and winner of $25 Commercial Club dollars.
